Noise and Vibration Awareness
Exposure to excessive levels of noise at work can cause deafness and it is often too late by the time that the problem has been recognised - the damage has been done. The risk of injury from noise needs to be assessed and if too high action taken to reduce the noise exposure. If this cannot be done by reducing the noise at source (therefore protecting everyone exposed to it) then suitable hearing protection must be provided and worn.   Regular and frequent exposure to vibration - transmitted into the hands and arms through the use of vibrating tools - can cause permanent health effects such as vibration white finger and carpal tunnel syndrome. The use of many hand-held or hand-guided tools can result in significant vibration levels. The risk of injury needs to be assessed and if necessary, personal exposure should be reduced.   We offer a combined half-day awareness course for those responsible for assessing and managing relevant processes, helping them to understand the risks involved and to be able to complete suitable and sufficient risk assessments. In addition we cover the use of engineering controls for noise reduction and the selection and use of hearing protection.   This course is suitable for environments with a fairly constant noise exposure, such as manufacturing plant and those with more random or intermittent exposure such as construction. We will tailor the content and workshop examples to suit your particular industry.   For further details click here for noise and click here for vibration.   To summarise, We provide the following:
